that looks much more stable than before...u would think this would be a recall item for HD or al the least a reason for them to fix a design flaw. No. they had rather you spend another 50$ on the part and have the HD shop spend 3+ hours replacing.
Good going on the repair job. I bet it wont break as fast the next time.
OTOH, every time these break in warranty, they have to eat the part and pay the dealer to replace them. I would think they might want to fix the problem. What baffles me is that mine are still intact at almost 20k and 18 months, but others report replacing them multiple times. Is the QC just spotty?

First one broke in I think sept/Oct 07 and the other in March 08 only 1600 miles between fixes? I have had the bike since 06/06 and have 13000 on her.

fixed mine with a brazing rod realy solid now I have a habit of exceding the speed in witch they were designed to handle as well as always running cams that shake a little more than stock. So far so good. I brazed the cracks as well as the 90 degree angle that they fold over on them.

I was on a ride from Ca. to Texas when mine broke. Both uppers and one lower. Quite an operation to jury rig on the road. Bike is under warranty so the dealer will repair it. I ordered additional brackets which I will reinforce myself and put on later. 07 ultra with 32k.
