I installed my SERT today...I vel-croed it underneath the seat and ran the cable out underneath the seat to my laptop and stuck it in the left saddlebag. Everything fits fine. Except I was wondering doesyour saddlebag lid crimp the cable like mine does? And I cant keep my laptop from going into sleep mode and shutting down my engine. Any suggestions?
This is what i think of every time I see somebody post about installing their SERT. The SERT is not a mechanical device..it is a piece of software and a communication device, that does not have tostay on the bike to operate correctly, and allows you to re-program your existing ECM. It does not ride piggy back and trick the ECM like other Fuel management systems do. Please don't "install your SERT today"...correctly stated.."I used my SERT to re-map or reprogram my ECM today."
Laptop's have two places where they are setup for sleep mode - one is the OS (go into the monitor settings (right click once on the desktop, properties, screen saver - then into Power Settings) - turn off everything under the Battery power settings. Laptop might also have settings in the BIOS - would need to consult your Laptop user's manual - just look for the power settings and turn off everything (save and reboot).
