Default Air Cleaner element

I have been searching for the article I read concerning the air cleaner element, but can't seem to find it so I will ask....Can the element be cleaned or do you just throw it away and buy a new one. Mine has around 20,000 miles on it(not sure when it was put on, was there when I bought the bike)at least for my part. I took it out the other day and it looks pretty dirty..

Warm water and mild soap. At a shop they are usually blown out. Filter is cheap and a new one is not a bad idea.

If your talking about a stock air filter pitch the old one and buy a new one. Manual says to do it every 5000 miles. Money well invested and you'll notice a difference in performance

i guess "cheap" is a relative term. my dealer charges bout 25 bucks for them. ive been washing mine (30 minute soak warm soapy water then air dry) and changing every 5K (kept a spare). but recently started wondering how clean they're actually coming. so i recently ordered(awaiting) a K&N OE replacement for 68 bucks. I KNOW this is made to be reused and cleaned repeatedly
