My 09 Ultra air cleaner is dirty. Manual says to wash in soapy water, rinse and let dry. Did that but still looks dirty along edges. For those who still run the stock air cleaner, how many times do you wash it before buying a new one, on average? Think the new one is less than $30.

Use a K&N .. got to wash and oil it, but in the long run I think it has paid for itself twice over.

I'll replace mine when I buy a new bike.

I'm gonna agree with that one. The K&N is far easier to maintain and the one filter will last many years.

Yep K&N on all my bikes. 1,000,000 mile guarantee. Breathe better too.

I've washed mine several times (every 2500 miles). I don't worry too much about the staining or dirt in the hard to reach areas.

I too buy a K&N the first time I do service on any bike that I have bought. Its the last time you ever have to buy an airfilter and it breathers easier for better performance.

Mine's a K&N and I wash and re-oil it every spring.
