HDForum to the rescue.

So got my new bike couple days ago. Weather sort of sucks, so lets get a few of the initial add-ons out of the way. Came with the security system, so I decided to add the Smart Alarm (really can't believe the stock security system doesn't include an audible alarm, but, whatever). Get home, got an hour or so to kill, how tough can it be?

Get out the directions and ???? WTF!!! Go to the section purportedly pertaining to my bike (2008 FHLTCU) and the pictures may as well be of a alien spacecraft, they're certainly not of my bike. How can Harley be so far off (yeah, yeah, I know). Anyway, I scratch my head, get the wife out and have her look at the directions and tell me what I'm missing, no help. I look under both side covers and the seat and nothing resembles anything in these pictures. At a total loss.

Okay, be cool, how about we try the forum, surely someone else has been down this path. So back in the house, start searching. Bingo. Lo and behold, back in February, DeputyMike seemed to have the same issue and, in response we have electraRick providing a link to a post by biz44, complete with pictures. Real pictures, the kind you don't have to squint to interpret. Twenty minutes later, siren installed, job complete. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

What a freakin resource this forum is (as if you all didn't know) and what a money saver. Damn, I can't tell you big a help this has been.

Life is good.

Absolutely a great resource. I have to differ with you about the 'money saver' opinion. I have saved on labor costs for sure BUT!!! I've gotten more ideas ans spent more $$$ on mods because of this forum than I would have otherwise. LOL

After working with Service Manuals for my GM Trucks for years, I too was less than impressed with the detail and applicability of the Service Manual for my '08 FXDF. Finally managed to get the security system installed and the bike runs but I don't think the security system is arming properly.

Yeh, ain't this the greatest place in the Harley world!!!!!! I get the same feeling as I got when I was a kid going into the candy store. This place is loaded with all kinds of goodies that make your mouth water. But I still don't have enough money in my pocket to dip my hands in the jar. But I still like looking.........
