Idle Problem?? - Where to start......

Idle Problem?? - Where to start......
Have an 01 Road King Classic. When at a stop sign (and basically in first gear) the bike is stalling). It appears that when i open the throttle and let it snap closed it sometimes will close all the way causing the stall, but occasionally (when parked) it will not close all the way and when i twist it to close all the way the idle starts really slowing down and then stalls...........your thoughts on where to start to diagnose this problem will be much appreciated.

Hmmm. Could be a carb or cable problem. Start by checking the throttle cable and work backwards. I'm assuming it's a carburated model and not fuel injected.

check the throttle plate (butterfly) for missing screws and also see if your Throttle body is cracked where the throttle plate rod passes through on either side of the throttle body.....mag-marelli had a problem with this on some older bikes.
