It's not for my bike. My dad asked me to do a build on his 06 RK custom.
I'd do a nice simple 95" HQ Touring or Sport Touring build depending on riding style and call it a day. I did a touring build and I'm quite happy with it. The difference between HQ and GMR is HQ makes the vast majority of their own parts or has them done to their spec, they also do their own head porting. GMR pretty much buys other folks stuff and hooks you up with a kit based on your needs, their major head porting is done by R&R. Not realy trying to toss stonesbut if I was going to get R&R ported heads I'd justgive R&R a call and have themhook me up with all my needs, sometimes its simpler to go right to the well.
steve at GMR is a top notch guy.....i have personally built both kits on several occassions....like i said, both are very nice....i dontunderstand where sedeluxe gets off diss'n GMR....my bet is he really likes HQ and chose that kit over the GMR....i'll say this tho, i will put my GMR 98 against ANY build 100 inch's or less and all they'llsee is my tail lites pullin away...many larger builds dont do so well either....the smear against GMR on the other forum was spearheaded byacoupla guys who complain rather than solve....IMO, some folks should never be sold high perf parts
i have 15k or so(maybe more) on my nikasil rev jugs with no probs...i am aware of the problems others have had....they are gauranteed for life....steve calls from time to time checking on my build....he doesnt sell rev jugs any longer....steve offers both bored/sleeved stock jugs and axtell....dont really matter to me who you choose, but i aint gonna be quiet while some dis a good man and quality kit...did i mention my GMR 98 will stomp the snot out of ANY HQ 98
98" vs 98" ~ wouldn't that be a drag strip yawner. Kinda like comparing a 23" front to an 18". Skip the logic and give HQ a call for a solid reliable package.
I didn't mean to start a war over this. I am just looking for the best kit at the best price.
I'm not looking to make a drag bike out of it. If he wanted a drag bike he could just go and get a crotch rocket that is 150+ hp right out of the box and does close to 200 MPH and save himself a bunch of money.
I've got a GMR 98" PowerPack II and very happy with it. Installed by R&R up here in NH. I wouldn't be surprised if R&R does the heads for HQ...??
there is no such animal a GMR 98in kit is a combo of other components.. GMR uses R&R heads and cams .puts his name on them and lyes to people about how they are his products. Yea thats a stand up guy.
Steve has a tendency to stretch the truth and not give full disclosure about the products he peddles.
At one time Steve was a good guy but only he knows what went wrong.
you have not seennothing yet -- you want to see a war start a tread about speakersand then be ready to hit the floor
