Its a heck of lot easier if you put the bike on a lift and take the extra 5 minutes to pull the front wheel off. This way you don't have the clearance problem with the fender! Just My .02 worth....and I've done this twice in the last few weeks on two different bikes!

Yep, good catch. The calipers have to come off to get the wheel off.
