Default Changed Brake Pads! What a PIA!

Damn! I just changed my front brake pads, what a PIA! It thought I was going to have to remove the fender to get the calipers off! Anyone else have this problem?

I recently changed the front pads on my electra glide, I admit it is a close fit to get it by the fender, but outside of that, finding the correct socket(1/4 12pt) for the pins, it was not to bad.

To make it much easier, remove the torx bolt that holds the brake lines to the bottom of the lower triple clamp and pull the lines down 2 or 3 inches. I also apply some masking tape to the fender to protect it.

Nope. Never had a problem. I can change both sides in less than 15 minutes.

Its a heck of lot easier if you put the bike on a lift and take the extra 5 minutes to pull the front wheel off. This way you don't have the clearance problem with the fender! Just My .02 worth....and I've done this twice in the last few weeks on two different bikes! Oh yeah....and having the 1/4" 12PT socket helps out too!

It's a tight fit but they will come off with a little patience. Other than that it is a pretty easy job to do the fronts.

I too have found it to be a pertty easy job. Be careful not to scratch your fender when taking the brake caliper off.

No problem there. I go thru rear pads like wildfire. I just replaced mine again in the motel parking lot at Myrtle last week. I can do those in about 5 minutes.
