I am thinking of getting an 08 ultra. Any issues with the bike I should be aware of? I had 2 other HDs, a shovel and an evo. the evo was a great bike but the shovel drove me crazy at times.
Go For it!!! Best Danged bike to come outta Milwalkee(sp) in a long long time, Bite the bullet and get the ABS. Heat, fly by wire, 5th gear noise, etc., etc., is all blah blah blah, no issue is un resolvableand you won't regret the decision
Ride safe
The '08s have been great bikes so far. Some pretty significant improvements since the 96 inch engine came out last year. We've not seen any real trends in reliability or service issues - Harley's best year yet!
Buy it, you'll love it. Just like every other Harley you'll do a few things to make it right for you, but they start out stock with more TQ that ever before and maintenance is still fairly easy. If you liked the EVO, you'll love the 08.
I had true duals on a 2004 Road Glide. They sound excellent but are on average a bit harder to tune than 2-1s or slip-ons. Mine took about 3 1/2 hours on the dyno but the end result was good. 2-1s are good for topend hp on cammed or bigger bore bikes but often require a bit higher rpm to really show their strong points. Slip-ons are cheaper than 2-1s or TDs by about 1/2 the price and if you get good ones, they can result in just as much TQ in the useable range as any other system. My current 08 RK has Rush Slip-on straight cuts with the Fuel Moto custom baffles (partly because I didn't want too loud), SE air cleanerand a Power Commander tuner. $700 investment and it has excellent TQ. Fuel moto sent a program for the PC that isn't real fuel efficient, but puts out strong torque and the motor runs much cooler than stock. A little dyno time would probably optimize it for my bike but it works fine for me as is.All the systems work, so it's just determining what you want.
