Default Headset Choices?

Is anyone using a different headset for the Harley Comm. system other than HD? J&M HEadsets perhaps? Your thoughts........... Is there any way to take advantage of the intercom with 1/2 helmets?

Thanks,

BRUCE

Bruce,
I purchased JM , you send them your side curtain and they sew the speakers in. Works great, it was pricey though, cant remember how much over a grand, but I did purchase a separate set of helmets also. I found that I prefer to communicate the old fashioned way on the bike, it cuts down on the constant chatter.....

Hi Bruce, I'm wondering how well a comm system will work with a half helmet. I just finished selling my BMW RT and used a full face helmet with an AutoCom system. I do believe it'll adapt to an open helmet, but, I think wind noise will render the system unuseable for the most part. My wife and I had enough trouble with the full face jobs. I am thinking I'll probably forget the comm system for now. Btw, the AutoCom system relies on the FRS band of frequencies and not CB. FRS is much better for short range stuff - I'll keep the forum informed as to what I finally do with communications. I know my wife will want to talk to me like we did with the RT. My RoadKing is still about 2 weeks away.

I tried to set up the factory comm set into a half helmet...couldn't get it to fit/feel right. So I now have an open faced helmet...no problems works great.

Have not considered an aftermarket brand....I use the system when my son rides with me...se we can talk when we need to...hear each other pretty good. I still use the 4 bike speakers for the music.
