Default What just happened

I have an 08 RKC and I know about the throttle issue. I always have the throttle down when I shut the bike off. I was riding today and all was fine. I came to a red light on a hill so I held my position with the clutch and a little throttle. Starting up the hill I got to second gear and the throttle stuck and I couldn't shift out of gear. I pulled in the clutch and coasted to the side of the road. I shut everything down in the normal way, started back up and everything is fine. Any ideas? I didn't think that holding my position on a hill with the throttle and clutch would cause this problem.

Never used the throttle to hold my position, always use the brake. I will say I have an 08 EGc and have NEVER had an issue with the throttle, not saying other's don't, just that I haven't.. I would be taking that bike to the dealer and have it checked I see no reason why using the throttle/clutch should make it act that way.

Well, sir, I'm going to just say it straight out - if you have to stop *any* kind of vehicle "on a hill", you don't "hold your position" with your clutch and throttle. I don't give a damn what it is - you use BRAKES to stay put. That's it. What about that don't you understand?

When you're stopped, throttle's at idle, clutch is disengaged, and the brakes do the work.

The rest of your post was incomprehensible.

If any of the above doesn't make sense to you, just get help.

Thanks for your derogatory reply. Thankfully most people on this forum are much nicer and certainly more helpful than you. Since you couldn't comprehend my post, let me explain it. MY THROTTLE STUCK.

Seems that some people just can't except the idea that MoCo has a few bugs
in the TBW and blame the problems on owner operator. It doesn't matter how you
hold the bike on a hill, throttle sticking shouldn't be happening.
Tell your Dealer to fix it.

Who in hell pulled your string??
I frequently use throttle/clutch to hold position, no need to worry about rolling back on some *** such as you appear to be, crowding my bumper when getting off the brake onto the gas.

dude, get a clue. it doesn't matter what vehicle you're riding/driving, you can and should use your clutch. the proper way would be to come to a stop, while your brakes are engaged, slowly release your clutch until you hit the friction zone, then release the brake, give a little throttle, and release brake and clutch and go.... if this is too much for your brain to do at once, then maybe you should just get help.

also, your post suggests that you would be in neutral while stopped (throttle's at idle, clutch is disengaged) which in itself is wrong. if someone comes up behind you and is not stopping, then you will be wasting precious time trying to shift into first so you can scoot butt out of there.

to the op, hope the dealer can find something wrong to fix. sucks when you have something happen and the dealer can't find/recreate the problem and sends you on your way.

Thanks for the help and support by all (most) of you. I've only been riding for less than a year and look to this forum whenever I have questions and problems. It's been a great tool in not only helping me pick a bike, but also to learn about riding and motorcycles in general. I'm scheduling my bike tomorrow for the dealer to check it. I assume the problem did come from me idling higher than normal at that uphill stop, but still figured that it shouldn't have caused the problem. Somehow, someway, the higher idle must have set something off. I was greatly relieved that when I restarted the bike all was normal. What did surprise me was that I couldn't upshift or downshift during the stuck throttle. Does the bike have something that prevents shifting when the rpms are high? That might seem logical since normally it's something you don't want to do.

Should't you be out on a ledge or maybe taking your meds? Sometimes I use my brake, sometimes I use my clutch, just like a lot of other people I know.

Not the way I would hold my bike on a hill, but I am not going to be an a--hole about it. As I released the brake as I was preparing to start out, yes, I would hold my position for a few seconds with the throttle/clutch. I am glad I have the cables though...
