Default RE: injector info

I taked to my dealer about them, and they said that I would have to have problems with the bike to even get them to look at it. I told them that I could feel the bike surging, and that I thought that the bike was running hot too. It was 38 degrees the last time I was out on the bike, and after I shut it off, the bike was making that hot "tinking" noise after I shut it down. Seems to me that it should not have been that hot while it was in the 30's.

They told me that the dealer rep was in and that he would have to test ride my bike for them to replace the injectors. I ok, fine, when does he want it!!! As soon as some of the salt gets off of the road it will be at the dealers for this guy to take it for a ride. I also told him that he can listen to a CD in the CD player as it skips and they can take care of that too. I told them one way or another the injectors will be replaced. The only question is who gets to pay for them.

Renegade, that sucks! Those reps are worthless. I had a rep out 2x to look at my first SG, What a waste of time. Their favorite answer is, "it's within tolerance and considered normal."
I called Harley custmer service again today. This time I asked them why some bikes run OK with stock injectors and others don't. They didn't know! The good news is that they said it would be no problem getting my injectors updated. I even told them that I had mods with a SERT and Dyno tune. They said no problem but I would have to get the bike re-tuned at my expense.
So, don't take that BS from that dealer. If he hassles you just take your business to another dealer. That's what I would do!

I think that it is pretty good that they are going to be putting th new injectors on all bike after XX date, but yet they can not up-date the other 06's that are alreay out there on the road.

BH - I hear ya Bud, and it would even be a whole lot easier to deal with if it were better then 50 degrees outside too instead of 5 degrees in the morning. This cold weather is starting to really suck!!!!!!!! Last week I was out riding 180 miles on my snowmobile, and I would have rather been on my new SG. $250.00 in extra HD parts came today, and another $450.00 should be here next week. All I want to do is ride the bike, and get this injector thing out of the way, and then get the pipes a PCIII installed.

I am done RANTING now.

I have no idea how to tell when my bike was built, but I bought it in Sepember of '05. I had no issues when it was stock, and I rode it that way for 1,000 miles. I definitely dont have any problems with it now.....

Hang in there Bob... sounds real similar to my experience with the dealer I bought my bike from. Just 15 miles up the road was a 180 degree difference in attitude with another dealer. I gave the first guys 4 chances, which was probably a few too many, and at the other place on the first try I was able to get some satisfaction! Now NOTHING has been done yet, but at least the way they've worked with me to this point has been impressive. They're picking it up tomorrow because they believe the problem is a safety issue. I had to ride home in a hail storm from the other place only to come back with the same problem and hours worth of salt clean-up!!! I'd say try the next dealer, calmly state your concerns, and see if they react positively. Worked for me!

Thanks, I will see how it goes when I take it in and the dealer rep takes the bike for a ride. If he is professional about the whole thing and steps up to the plate then he and I will be on the good road, if not, then I will remind him of just what the bulliten says on customer service. It is not like it is a one off problem with one bike, and they are changing the production line to put the new injectors in all of the bikes too.

I have a copy of the H-D bulletin, M-1185, dated Feb 20, 2006. Quite a few dealers do not have the bulletin, mine included until this past Tuesday.

I have a 2006 ULTRA, manufacture date Jan 2006, it has the 8* injectors (part #27625-06). I put about 300 miles on it as stock as I was waiting for the dealer to do the 95" big bore. I could not really tell if it was running correctly (all the EPA crap [:@]). It did run very hot, died in stop & go traffic, & had some hesitation, again I was not too concerned because I knew the engine mods were coming & was sure it would run much better. After the work was done the service manager was not happy with the way it performed. He asked me to ride it for awhile & see what I thought. It still had some hesitation, & some burping on deceleration. He asked me to bring it back at my conveince & he would personally dyno it after he got off work. This was completed Feb 16, before the bulletin came out.The bike ran better after the dyno but it still has some hesitation, sometimes takes several times to start on a cold start & some burping on decelartion. This past Tuesday I saw the service manager & he asked if I was still having problems/issues. I told him yes & asked if he knew about the service bulletin, M-1185. He did not but went right to his computer & looked it up. After reading it he placed a phone call & ordered me a set of CVO injectors (#27709-06A). Hopefully this will correct things.
95" big bore, 1550 flat top pistons, 204 cams, stock heads, SE A/C, race fueler, V&H true dual headers, V&H ovals. Dyno numbers are: max hp = 70.02 max tq 83.11. This seems a bit lame to me. I was told this is from the rear wheel & that some published numbers (such as in the H-D Screaming Eagle PRO Racing parts catalog) are measured differently
