Called Harley customer service today and found out that the stock injectors for '06 are different than previous years. They said the injectors were redesigned in '06 to accomodate emmission standards.
I think this info has just about convinced me to get the CVO's installed! One way or the other!
Ok, thats one question answered. Now I would like to know why they work on some bikes and not others?
I wish I knew. My 06' Road King Custom doesn't have any issues that other guy's are having. I start the very first time, every time. And haven't had the surge other's are talking about. It wierd, you would think all the 06's would have the problem. I bought mine in December 05', maybe I still have the "older" injectors and that is why I haven't had any trouble.
I looked at my injector's and they have the part number 27625-06 as in the bullentin. i have o6 ultra classic I got on oct 19. I had taken mine in because at night i noticed the rear head pipe had a slight glowing red. stealer said could not duplicate problem everything was fine.
Could they have the same part #'s, but have a defective batch of them that are virtually untraceable now? I initially though my issue was related to cold temps, but I see others are having the same trouble in normal summer conditions. Almost sounds like there was a quality issue somewhere along the line and not all stock 06 injectors were created equal. Maybe they just dumped the supplier and went with the CVO's because they were available and quicker to get than getting a new supplier? Just a thought trying to make sense of it all...
I personally only have problems when I use different brands of gas. I ALWAYS use Premium, but
there seems to be differences in brand mixtures. I still have problems with the 04 Carbed Dyna, and trying not to use some brands on my 06 RG.
Here in South East L.A. ( Lower Alabama) I find Chevron and Shell is best, no problems

I have an 06 SG and it runs great. It's all stock. I haven't had any of the problems other have been having. My bike was made in Aug. of 05. I just checked last night, I do have the new 3 hole injectors.
