i havent bought one yet because i dont like any of my mounting options, re :i dont want it on the bars . has anyone mounted it to their windshield like an ez-pass? any reason that would not work with a small unit like a tomtom one or a nuvi 200/350? this will keep it at eye level for safety .since im rarely if ever gonna use it i dont want to spring for a zumo.
I have the Nuvi 200 I manage to get another set of power cord and a mounting hardware. I use the windshield mount that it came with. I hard wired the power source so I don't have to keep messing with it.So far the mount has not fallen like everyone experienced. I am going to make it a perminent fixture to my windshield. I plan on cutting the "ball" drill a hole just big enough for a longer bolt will fit through. I am using one of the bolt on my windshield to secure it. If I manage to take a photo that is small enough in "bites" to upload I'll post the result.
Think twice 'bout drillin' the shield ta mount it....yer gonna put stress on the plastic, an' chances are it'll crack. NOW you'll need another mount point AND a new windshield.
