I mounted a Zumo 550 on a Kuryakyn fuel door mount. Thing is sweet, no vibration.

Don't know what to tell you. The 3K was over 9 days on the mountain roads of TN, NC, and VA. Highway between Ft. Lauderdale and Atlanta. If it was going to come off it would have come off on the twisties. Remember the Tom Tom is very light.

Check out Ram Mounts.
I just went there when I saw this thread and ordered mine
http://www.ram-mount.com/
Just won a streetpilot on ebay, haven't received it yet. But was wondering about mounts, many of you have recommended ram-mount. Never seen a GPS before, but wondering how in the heck do they mount to a "ball". What is this old man missing?
