Anyone have experience between the two? The 575's were a good bar compared to the stock SG bars but I always felt like I wanted a bit more height than the 575's offered. They stated they were 10" in height but I recall measuring them at more like 9" in height. The 12" or 13" bagger apes would give more height, but they don't look like they would offer as much pullback as did the 575's? Not sure I want to trade the pullback for more height?? Might be reaching for a higher bar?
i've had both and the 13" cyclesmith's are much more comfortable. the biggest disadvantages are 1) if you have fairing mounted mirrors, they don't work very well and 2) they put your hands in the wind a bit, which sucks on colder days. otherwise they helped me out by putting the bars just a tad below shoulder height and i'm no longer hunched over at all which helps my back.
Dang...I'm in the same boat as you gliderman.
I've been holding off pulling the trigger on new bars for a while.
I'm looking at 12"-13" myself, but have no personal experience with apes.
But I'm with you on the pullback.
I'm trying to reach that fine line of comfort in height and reach.
I just put 16 inch apes on my 02' roadking and I can't say enough aboutthem. I love the reach, pullback, looks, feel, and everything else.should have done this years ago!!! let me know if your interested in the details. good luck.
