I have used the search and found some really great information on this subject. But I am hoping to get some more up to date opinions.
Wife and I rode about 600 miles over the weekend. She was uncomfortable by about mile 75. By mile 450 she was praying that it would be over soon. By the time we got home whe was convinced that she would not be able to do any long distance rides with me. This was over a Friday evening, most of the day Saturday period. She was having butt pain and some numbness in her feet. I am wondering if anybody has any seat recommendations. The bike is an '08 SG. We currently have a Sundowner seat that has been modded by Mean City Cycles with the memory foam mod. Neither of us is a small person. I'm fairly comfortable but could always be more so. We also know that we will need to condition ourselves for really long rides.
Any plugs for your passengers favorite seat?
Leaning towards giving the Mustang touring seat a shot. Has anyone tried the Corbin dual tour? Also has anybody tried just adding a gel pad on top of the seat?
Yeah - ah run the DT. Wife is a li'l bitty thang - 'bout a buck-10 soakin' wet, 5' tall - so most of the other saddles are too wide fer her comfort.....with the Corbin, 500 mile days are a piece of cake.
Are her floorboards raised? If not, try raising her floorboards. My buddy took his woman for aride on ours and she raved about how much more comfortable she was with the raised floorboards. She normally complains of hip and knee problems on a long ride.Get HDpart #50789-99a and see what happens. We have a SunRay premium heated seat, and that's not the most comfortable to start with. She could also try moving her feet around a little, I've seen women put their heels up on the bag gaurds. My girl does that too, sometimes.
