Default Comfort Stitch Seat

Long weekend trip and wife says get me a new seat! I have a Road King Classic with the stock seat and a backrest from harley for both of us. But the butt is a hurting. Even with a gel pad her butt lasts 20 miles and then its pit stop time. She thinks she needs width to take the pressure off her tail bone. The widest seat Harley makes for the passenger is the Comfort Stitch which is 16 inches. Anyone try this seat? Most threads refer to the Sundowner but the passenger seat is only 12 inches. Mustang is an option but where do you try one? I hate to spend that kind of money without sitting on it first.

Mustang would be a good choice, as the passenger seat is wider. I have seen people gone the Mustang way, and were pretty satisfied. For me, I'm a Corbin guy. I'm not sure about comfort stitch either, as many on this forum have mentioned that it's also not too comfortable on long trips.

In addition to the seat, try adjustable passenger floor board mounts

I just posted a similar question. I am looking into Russell Day-Long saddles.

Go to the dealer and take a look at the seat on the Ultra Classic. It is the comfort stitch seat.

I just did a Saddlesore 1000 on my Ultra and had no comfort issues.

Few weeks ago took the wife out and she did not make it 40 miles down the road without complaining. I gave her a couple of choices. Lose weight or get her own bike.

FYI, the Road Zepplin model has a 17 inch passenger pillon and is air adjustable. How well they hold up over time and distance I do not know.

I like the comfort stitch because it has good back support for me but 2 things that are a deal breaker for me, the passenger seat is really high & when my wife is on the back she sits way above me which makes for difficult slow speed manuvering due to the high center of gravity, she also says its not as comfortable as the 05 roadglide seat we currently have on now due to the roadglide seat sits her lower & she has better support from the backrest.

I have a 04 RKC and purchased a comfort stich seat a couple of years ago. The wife loves it. I just got back Saturday from riding to Myrtle Beach without the wife but I put the comfort stich seat on for the ride. I am from Michigan and took 2 days to ride to Myrtle Beach Via Tenn. and Deals gap man talk about some twisty roads. Comming home I did the ride in one day 948 mile, 18 hours with the Comfort Stich and My arms were more sore than my ***. When the wife rides I also put on the detachabe tour pack with the wrap around back rest. IMHO get the comfort stich!

I bought the comfort stitch also. I like the lower back support and my wife really likes the width of the passenger pillion. When I first put it on, the backrest did sit quite low because the rear pillion is so tall. Luckily HD came out with a new taller sissy bar this year. It sits 2 1/2 inches taller than the old one and works very well. My experience has been 750 mile days with no problem.
