Ur Experience: downshifting '08 RK, MAYBE design problem
Hi, I have a good friend who I ride with, has '08 RK. I drive a ST. He has problems when coming to stop, only when in 3rd gear, then he is stuck in third gear. Can't get it into neutral or any gear without shutting off. I realize that he is not downshifting while coming to a stop, as I do, but if you had to do a quick or emergcy stop, you wouldn't necessarily be downshifting anyway.
We tried this in 4th gear, no problem.
Obvisouly this can be dangerous if stuck in 3rd gear at slow speed.
Solution if in 3rd gear when this happens: After starting engine, slowly let out clutch, force the bike to move about 2 feet, pull clutch in and NOW you can get any gear you want.
He has talked to couple riderselsewhere in country, they have same problem...HD hasn't a solution and he is waiting.
Your thoughts?? Tnx, Steve
