as some of you know i have posted a few times on the pinging. \\; it drives me nuts, i ride fairly hard so the pinging is not good. \\; anyway, for those with the pinging. \\; octane helps greatly and it was how i resolved it until now. \\; just put colder 4163 spark plugs with no octane and although i have not had a lot of time with them, they seem to make a huge difference.
I just added \\;the SE Air, pipes and of course the all important download, running on \\;91 octane \\;and have done about 300 mile on this set up. This reduced my pinging dramatically, to almost non-existant. I might try your suggestion \\;and see if it can't be totally eliminated...
I used lucas octane booster on cross country trip.It help a tone with that lil sob beating the top of my new pistons.I think his arm get bigger as the trip went on or hi hammer bigger,I had few fill ups w/o the booster.
You should not need octane boost in a low compression engine
to avoid ping.
In fact there is a lot of literature that shows 89 is fine.
It detonates at a lower flash point.
I would look at the fuel managment system.
At what rpm is it pinging...????
