Well......I think here in Michigan all the stations have switched from "winter blend" fuel to "summer "blend"...... does anybody have a favorite gas they run all the time?
Is Shell any better than Sunoco, BP, Marathon, Citco, etc. ............
91 or 93 octane? Any additives?
Weather make any difference?
SPARK PLUGS: 2001 FLHTCI Electra Glide Classic All original with slip-on's
Other than the 6R12's from HD.....what other plugs does everyone like for baggers?
A couple friends been running NGK's......mostly 'cause they can be found just about anywhere...anytime....always....
They gave me two numbers to look at:
DCPR7EM --- NGK #3932? DCPR7EIX
Both said they gap 'em tight..... 0.038 - 0.0.040
I can't remember all the chatter about this-N-that but I do remember a few people sayin' flatout NOT to run Champion's.....ever....
Something about plug threads ruining the threads in the head ? ....and wouldn't hold a gap....I dunno....
Anyone?........

Not sure if you have any Fleet farms or Farm and Fleets there. thats where i try to buy gas. They have no ethenol in their gas. Otherwise i try to stop at shells. BP is ok but i try not to use them if i can help it. Dont have many marathons in green Bay. As always i use premium gas.
Guess I'll stick with Shell 91-octane....maybe 93....
Going to pick-up NGK DCPR7E and se what happens....
IF they have the DCPR7EIX I'll grab a set of those also...
Read a bunch of threads about iridum plugs and seem to be more issues with '05 & later models.....I dunno...
No threads regarding '01 Glides & iridium plugs so I'm not gonna stress over knocks and such...
Have a neighbor who swears by them in a newer sporty and will not change. I think he's an engineer at GM 'cause he was tellin' me about flogging a KAW race bike at the test track the other day and well in to 3-digits........
I've been running Denso Iridium IXU24's in several bikes over the years. Never had a plug issue. Current ride; 2010 EGC with 51,000+ miles.
BTW this is a slightly cooler plug.
The IXU22 is the direct replacement.
The above is based on a Thunder Press article by Donnie Smith (I think Smith is correct last name).

Spider...
Where do you find these Denso Iridium IXU24's ?
Where are you located?
What made you decide to run the cooler plug?
I do like that idea....can get kinda hot here in MI....massive humidity
dosen't help either...
I'll have to look in to this...tryin' to get running this weekend.
01 shouldn't have problems with aftermarket plugs,as for fuel as long as your not getting ping 91 is fine, some even use 89 but u may get ping in hot weather.and yes winter blend and/or ethanol suck.
