I have a "08 105th street glide with 3,893 miles on it&nbsp\\;that is now at the dealer waiting on the "supposedly new and improved" fuel filter bracket. On Sunday when returning from a nice long ride my bike had what I thought immediately to be a fuel issue. I managed to limp it home about 40 miles.[sm=boosign.gif]&nbsp\\;According to my service mgr. when HD went to the 6 gal. tank in "08 baggers they used a different filter bracket. It has 5 plastic tabs around the rim that can break either during instalation or over time. I have called HD customer service and given them "my thoughts on this issue". They will do nothing about this until a large enough number, (their call) of us fellow bikers break down. My opinion is, this is wrong!

I am not sure that I like the government to stick it's nose into my fun, but maybe this is different.&nbsp\\; I posted this on one of the other threads in this forum...
&nbsp\\;
Guys,&nbsp\\;

If you think that you have found a safety problem and want to get Harley's attention, check out the site below...&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm&nbsp\\;

Buell did a safety recall a 1.5 to 2 years&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;ago on their Ulysess model.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; The bank angle sensor was activating and killing the engine.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; The cause is different but the concern is the same.

Thanks OD Cleaver for the website http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm. I went online and filled out the complaint form in detail. This entire issue should have been put out by Harley Davidson as a recall long before now. I have had my fill of my bike sitting at the dealership since 6-13-08 with the dealer telling me in good faith that the part was to come off of backorder on 6/17, then being told 6/23??? What will Harley Davidson tell their dealers this Monday?
&nbsp\\;
All of you riders out there that got your bike fixed with the current part are subject to&nbsp\\;the same failure again. Harley Davidon has designated a new part number for the part that will be sent out after the backorder stops. This means a redesigned and modified part will replace the current one. The gentleman I spoke with at 414-343-4056 at Harley Davidson Manufactoring was completely aware of this issue and blamed it on their vendor who supplies the manufacturer with this part.
&nbsp\\;
I encourage others to visit the listed website that OB Cleaver was so kind to furnish us with and fill out the complaint form.
&nbsp\\;
I am very pro Harley Davidson but this problem should be addressed by them in the appropiate recall manner. Hey it is warranty work, but the average rider want know why their bike ceases to run at a critical moment unless it does not happen at all. Because the defective part was changed prior to&nbsp\\;the rider&nbsp\\;ever having the problem, due to a recall.
&nbsp\\;
I thank all of you for your support and comments.

My friend's '08 EGC had a fuel pump replaced after hardly any miles on it.

I was just wondering how many people have decent miles on there 08s without any problems. I am off to Laconia in a few days and I plan on taking my Ultra. I have 2500 miles on mine and it is running great.
&nbsp\\;
Made it back without any problems but I still do not like the fact that it is a ticking time bomb. We all need to fill out those complaint forms so we put pressure on HD to do a recall. I do not want to break down on the highway.

I am repairing a crashed 08 FLHX with 12600 miles not a problem untill the guy wrecked it. Now on assembley the fuel pump turned on and would not turn off, I had to kill the ignition. Fuel pump will not turn on now and only have 8.3V to one wire out of four????? Any suggestions I really need a wiring diagramn and can't find one online.
