Default 08 RK adjusting handlebars need help

&nbsp\\; Before anyone tells me. Yes I agree, I should have a manual
I waited 2 months on one from the dealer, then ordered one
from Zannottis. Zannottis also has it on back order.

&nbsp\\; I need to adjust my handlebars. I think I can get the cover
off to adjust my handlebars. My question is, how do you pry the
cover off the fork lock? Is there a slot to start at, or do you just
push a small screw driver, or knife under it and start prying?
I would hate to scratch the heck out of it, or break something
doing it wrong.

Thanks in advance to all that reply

I believe you have to take the headlight out to remove the cover.

With an '08 you don't need to go through the headlight. I did this today.
Pull the left saddlebag and sidepanel.
Pull out the Maxi Fuse, the big 40A orange one by itself on the right of the fuse panel. I don't know why but the Service Manual says to.
The shiny flat panel on top of where the bars connect is plastic and can be pried up with a small screwdriver or knife blade.
The two 1/4" Allen bolts then can be loosened, bars adjusted and then re-tightened, to 15 -20 FT LBS of torque. Be sure the amount of knurling on the bars is sticking out the same distance on both right and left of the clamp.
Turn the bars full right and full left to be sure no controls or the bars themselves touch the tank.
You may need to adjust the hand controls once the bars are to your liking. They take a Torx bit, 25 T if I recall.
Smack the plastic cover plate back in place.

All the best,

Thank you bmore. After pulling 1/2 the headlight parts off.

I saw the cap covering the adjustment screws, and pulled it up.

You live and learn I was lucky. I saw the cap, and pulled it up

before I took all the headlight parts off.
