I keep hearing and reading GREAT things about the handling, comfort and speed of the FXR, which is what has it on my short list. I've seen lots of clean FXRs (not FXRT) for little more than 5k-6k. I'm thinking of picking one up and adding a cop windshield to ride for the rest of the summer to see how I like it. Most of the Road Glides I've seen for 10K or so, seem to be little tired. At 7k-8k I wouldn't mind, as I'd still have a little change to put back into it, but I can't pay 10k-12k for a bike that still 2k-3k put back into it.

I'm also considering a '96 Tour Glide and have heard that they handle a bit better than the Road Glide. The prices seem to be a bit more in line with my budget....and I'd like to think I can fab up some sort of trim for the lower edge of the Tour Glide winshield so that it kinda of mimics the Road Glide fairing...

I loved my FXRS, but the FLTR is a much more comfortable bike for the type of riding that I do.&nbsp\\; I didn't have the FXRT, but I can tell you my RG with the King Tour Pack (even without) has way more storage.&nbsp\\; And the RG has more room for the GF than the FXRS.&nbsp\\; I loved the light weight of the FXRS....&nbsp\\; So, if I had my a choice, I would have both.&nbsp\\; Unfortunately, finances didn't allow that....

Do NOT get a Road Glide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!&nbsp\\; I've made the same damn mistake twice now and I'll prolly do it all over again one day lmao.&nbsp\\; I've ridden them all and as many have said the "Road Glide is Harley's Best Kept Secret".
Go rent one.

&nbsp\\;I'd love a Twin Cam Road Glide, but my budget is only 10K, maybe 12K for the RIGHT bike.&nbsp\\;\\
&nbsp\\;
I bought "the Golden Turd" last Dec ('07) as a former "rental fleet" and that was the range.... they are out there.... it's all in the looking

Last rt was in 94,I,ve owned 3 of them,two were 84,s and an 86.They were supposed to be Harley,s answer to bmw sport touring bikes.They did this with ease.Up to 85 they had an enclosed chain,which was great,change the engine oil and the left over change the oil for the chain.40,000 was normal for a chain,took about 20 minutes to put on a new one.If you can find one get it they were the best for the times,and still dont need to run in the back now.If Harley brought out a new one I,d have it.
