Default rear lowering shocks

I did the rear shocks on my FLHT. When the wife gets on it it rubs bad when we hit dips. Somebody posted awhile back about using a&nbsp\\;kit&nbsp\\;with the stock shocks. Anybody remember or have the info?

Mine did the same thing. (wifies not small!) I have to run more air than HD recommends to keep the tire and fender from getting together in the dips. I've run well over the 35 lbs. HD talks about and have had no problems.

I bought a Burly rear lowering kit for my '03 Ultra, then decided to install 12" shocks instead.&nbsp\\; The Burly kit is brand new if you want to buy it for $40&nbsp\\;+ shipping.&nbsp\\; If so let me know and I will check the part #'s for model and year.

I use a lowering kit from Arlen Ness for the touring models. It works well for me, but I only ride solo and weigh about 115 pounds (29 inch inseam).. Also White Brothers makes lowering kits for the stock shocks.&nbsp\\; .Melanie

Put a set of Street Glide shocks on it and you can still use the factory air setup and the shocks are 1" lower than stock and since the travel is reduced, you can't physically hit the fender, the shock will bottom out before this happens. I have this setup on mine, weigh about 215, the wife is around 165, fully loaded, 50 psi on two up, never bottom out.

Well, not to sound sarcastic, but do you ever hit bumps in the road? Mine would bottom on anything rougher than the Bonneville Salt Flats. Anyway, glad they work for you, but I lost some height from spinal compression before removing the stock SG shocks. My *** kissed my Adam's Apple on a regular basis.

I had a White Bros. (Now Burly Brand, I think) lowering kit on my old RK and it worked very well. In stock form that bike was higher in the rear than current touring models and the 1½" lowering kit was just right. Never had a problem with clearance or bottoming. In fact, if I had to do it again I might try this solution over aftermarket shocks first, using the stock 13" EG shocks and lowering them 1".&nbsp\\; I wouldn't want to go lower.
