I just had the Glide Pro front and rear swing arm mounts installed on my 2005 Road King. The instructions indicated that there is a 500 mile break-in period. What exactly does that mean? Do I need to re-tourqe or adjust anything after 500 miles or does it just mean the bushings will loosen up at 500 miles and I shouldn't try adjusting anything or worry about any vibrations until then. I haven't had a chance to ride the bike but a few miles from the shop so far, so I don't have any good feedback yet. I plan on taking it out for a long ride in about 2 hours, as soon as this cold snap warms up here in Florida.
Not really sure about that as I don't recall Jake saying anything about a "break in" period. I think he did recommend to recheck the torques on the new swingarm shaft after a first ride though I never did and have had no problems.
Just give him a call with any questions as he is more than happy to help.
Let me start by saying that Jake is a real cool dude. I got on the phone with him on a Monday to discuss his product. He was very help full and knowledgeable. I scheduled to have him do the install on Saturday. It would include swing arm mounts, front motor mount, wheel alignment, and triple tree adjustment. Parts 400 Labor 250. So I took off from L.A. to El Cajon at 6am and got there at 7:50am.I set the cruise control and was only doing 73mph cuzz anything faster my bike would wobble. He began to work on my bike at 8am. 2005 Road King Classic. I hung out with him for an hour then he offered me his truck to go get myself some breakfast. Told him I didn't know how to drive stick lol..so i took his street glide. I got back and he offered me his toy hauler for me to go take a nap. What a nice guy. He finished the entire job at 4:30. He then took it for a spin and said Oh Yea!! it's done. I geared up, got on the road and would deliberately shake the handle bars to and went over lane bumps at high speeds to see if the wobble was gone. Guess what, it's gone no more Wobble, Hell Yea finally it's gone. I put my bike on cruise control at 75mph cuzz there was traffic going home. I swear, I steered the bike with one hand all the way. I couldn't believe how good it handled it felt like a new bike. Jake is an airplane mechanic and that's where his ingenuity led him to design an efficient swing arm bushing and of course many hours of R&D research and development. Jake has perfected his product and it works. Some people might hesitate to purchase his product because of his price tag 400 bucks as i was hesitant as well, but if you think about a lot of us are not hesitant to go into a Harley dealer and drop 100 bucks on a freaking piece of chrome to put on our bikes and we've done that countless times. But yet we think twice about spending 400 bucks even though it could save our lives or keep us from getting injured from loosing control on our Harleys. I did my homework for 6 months before going with Glide Pro. I have a background in in Electrical Engineering and have also studied Mechanical Engineering. His product makes sense because he tackled the problem at the source. Other stabilizers out there just Band Aid the problem but Jake's kit fixes it. The reason his makes the most sense is because the stabilizers out there attach to the oil pan and his doesn't, meaning the oil pan was not meant to take on any stress, it was not designed for that. It was just designed to keep the oil in, that's it. So eventually two things will happen, you will eventually crack the oil pan, or wear out the thread on the the oil pan because of the stress you will be putting on it when it tries to correct the wobble. I highly recommend his product. I took my bike out today on Ortega Hwy. and I was bending corners like i was on a speed bike. My confidence is now up on twisty road because of the better handling I'm getting from my Road King. My bike is now ready for Sturgis as I am going this year 2012 in August, so Ihad to get it ready for my long trip. Jake once again Thank You for a great product and fix to our Harley Wobble.
