clutch adjusted no change

clutch adjusted no change
My clutch is engageing way out from the handle bar.So sunday I adjusted it using the HD sm.All went well ,but there is no change where it starts to engage,I \\;would it to start about an inch from the handle bar.Did I do something wrong

I loosend the lock nut an turned the adjuster in .It now grabs  \\;about an inch from the bar but I have a large amount of slack at the lever. \\; hmm'

You first loosened the cable adjuster and then adjust the clutch screw. If you have the clutch adjuster screw \\;set correctly. You \\;need to go back and tighten \\;the cable adjuster. The clutch lever has a little bit of play at the end of the travel.
