I have a 2006 EG Classic. When i accelerate from 2500 rpm's I hear a strange \\;noise from the engine, I think, towards the front left side. It sounds like loose metal being moved around. I can not isolate the noise. It does it almost every time. Any ideas?
I only run super unleadedthrough it. The only mods are a SE big bore kit with 203's in Jan. 07. I have about 10k miles on it since the big bore was installed. I just changed all fluids and saw no metal on any of the magnetic plugs. I am curious if it is because I do not have a good tune on it. I only have the canned download from Harley..

Then it could very well be a timing issue...... Do you have a SERT? If not, you may want to invest in one.......
Hold the front brake and put a load on the motor to see if you hear the noise. If so and it sounds like a knock, you might have a bad bolt on the compensator or perhaps a bolt that has backed off.
A couple questions:
Does the sound change tone or pitch as you increase or decrease in speed?
Can you hold in the clutch and keep the throttle at the smae rpm asn produce the smae noise or does it go away?
Does it sound more like an engine noise or metal striking metal, as in, a shield clanging against something?
Have you recentlyu added any chrome do-dads such as engine covers, spark plug covers, etc.
