I have an 07 with the IDS added and it \\;makes the noise you are describing. Head mechanic at \\;my dealership says it's the rubber in the IDS stretching and snapping back when letting out the clutch. Says it's not a big deal. Makes sense to me.
My '09 FLHRC is doing this now? It's making a "click" sound when I bring the clutch in to shift into 2nd gear & sometimes 3rd gear as well? It's at the stealership right now getting looked at. Glad I read this thread today though...will make me feel a little better if they do tell me it's a "Harley thing"!
my 08 RG does it also. I notice it the most when I pull in the garage and pull in the clutch put it in neutral and release it. Glad to know it's not just big Red doin' it. I thought the dealer jacked it up on my 1,000 mile service. I wasn't pleased with their service and won't go back unless forced to do so. Ride safe
Thanks guys, \\; when I go up to the dealer (100 miles away - that stinks) I will get them to look at it, but I feel good that it's a "Harley" thing after reading your posts. \\; I appreciate the input.
My biggest complaints with the '08 Ultra are the heat and the problem with the new throttle control
The heat, I've got RJ Orginal deflectors, but it still gets pretty warm. \\; Better with RJ's, but still hot. \\; Thinking of trying an oil cooler and/or true dual pipes. \\; Anyone with experience with these?
Also, the new throttle control, no standard throttle cable. \\; Sometimes, the idle gets off... it will idle at a wrong rpm or do this weird fluctuating idle. \\; Right now the only fix the dealer has is to cut the ignition switch off, then on for 10 seconds then off, then on for ten seconds, then off, then on for 10 seconds, then off then on for 10 seconds (4 cycles). \\; This puts the throttle back to default and all is good again until the next time. \\; This little deal has happened to me 4 times now. \\; It's really not a problem, more of an inconvenience. \\; I would like it fixed. \\; Hope HD is going to find a more permament fix.
The throttle control is fine except for this.
Well now you know my story.... hehehehhee
thats nothing.....wait till your fuel filter comes apart and leaves you stranded
Just curious...you guys still hearing this "click"? Find out any new info on this? I'm gonna get a 3rd opinion this Spring. The 1st dealer told me it was a chain tensioner-related sound & normal. The 2nd dealer told me what I was hearing was the metal in the front brembo brakes & also normal? He even dupliacted the sound for me! Not sure what to believe though?
Mine occasionally does it to. My hearing is not all that great but i've noticed when I roll back out of a parking place then put it in gear to roll forward and let out on the clutch I get a click, but I think it is the front brake puck taking up slack in the forward direction
Whewwwww! I'm glad this issue is more widespread than just mine. One less thing to worry about now. The only thing that bugs me is than NONE of my previous Harleys made the "CLICK" noise. New technology maybe?
Whewwwww! I'm glad this issue is more widespread than just mine.
That's how I felt when I heard that I'm not the only one experiencing this annoying "click". I swore that I had bought a lemon when I first heard it! Had never heard it before on any of my last 4 bikes?
