This is for the idle heat-management mechanism where it will intermittently turn the (just the rear?) cylinder into an air pump. I think it quits doing it once engine speed reaches something like 1250 rpm or so. You can toggle it on and off at will on the 08 tourers now, or so I have heard.

I had an AMF Sportster that would do that to.&nbsp\\; No colored lights to tell me when the back jug wasn't firing.&nbsp\\; Just did it when it felt like it.&nbsp\\; 8-)

ok found some info regarding throttle,&nbsp\\; without starting the motor you turn the key on and hold back throttle this will turn the light green and it is ready for action. reverse to turn off page 140 in touring model manual (engine idle temp management system)

Just like as stated if you turn the ignition on and you have to have the run stop switch on also when you roll the throttle back against the stop the cruise light will turn green when its turned on and it will be red when it is off. But it doesnt stay on all the time to let you know it is on. You will know its working because the bike will sound different and smell different too when you come to a light or you are idleing in traffic. You will also feel the heat difference on your left leg. But the rear cylinder will kick back in when you roll on the throttle. You dont have to turn it off and on it will do it automatically when it reaches a certain temp.

Once it's on, not sure why you would shut it off.&nbsp\\; It only works at dead idle, any throttle position off "0" will turn the fuel and spark back on.&nbsp\\; You can't tell the transition is taking place unless you grab a handful of throttle when it is active, then it will hesitate slightly at first.&nbsp\\; It works off temp, at a certain temperature, the ECM shuts off spark and fuel to the back cylinder, AT IDLE, and pumps air through to cool it.&nbsp\\; Have been through Chicago a couple times this year, temps&nbsp\\;in the 90's, it did turn on.&nbsp\\; It didn't cool it down, but I'm glad it also didn't get any hotter.&nbsp\\; Even with the Stage 1, the 08s are hot, I'm thinking XIEDs next.

Also another feature which is pretty cool, if you have cruise control and have it on while cruiseing just turn the trhottle back and it cuts off the cruise control rather than hitting the brakes or shutting it off.&nbsp\\; Doc
