Sucks don't it.&nbsp\\; I was on my first ride from leaving the dealer and was stoping by the in-laws house to show off the new ride.&nbsp\\; I felt soooo comfortable on the thing I decided to ride it right up their steep driveway, got near the top and turned perpendicular to the driveway.&nbsp\\; Went to put my foot down on the downhill side and by the time I realized what was happening she was already leaning too much to recover.&nbsp\\; The kicker was my brother in law went down on his scoot earlier in the day.&nbsp\\; He was on his way to meet me at the dealer to ride back with me.&nbsp\\; Just a couple scrapes to his bike&nbsp\\;but he was at the in-laws&nbsp\\;house (with a camera no less) just a couple feet from me when my bike started to tilt.&nbsp\\; The dumb **** thought I was making fun of him for going down earlier in the day so he was slow rush over and help until it was too late.&nbsp\\; Oh well after a couple laughs and&nbsp\\;shot o whiskey my bruised ego mended rather quickly, and no.....I....uh don't konw what could have happened to those pictures.

Yes I've done it several times, it's hard to hold an 800 pound bike up when it wants to lay down!!

Cannot believe I did it...I felt stupid. Does Harley sell training wheels?
Boy, I would feel stupid too! Yeah, right. Let he who has not done the same thing cast the first stone. My stupid move was wheeling it into the garage and forgetting to drop the kickstand. No, I wasn't drunk. As tight as it is in my garage, it never touched anything except the floorboard, and with much effort I pulled it upright and there was naught for pain or suffering, except my ego.

The day is coming when I drop it at a stoplight, howerver. On numerous occasions I've put my foot down and it slipped on gravel, a slick lane divider strip, or similar. In each case the boot grabbed in the nick of time. The day is coming, however.

While on the subject, the best recovery I've ever seen was at the '97 Sturgis Rally at a small watering hole in the Black Hills. A guy on a Dresser with wife on the back began to lose his balance while stopped at an intersection. Instead of simply letting it fall, he goosed the throttle, popped the clutch, and jumped ahead a few feet. This immediately righted the bike and recovery was complete. I was impressed to say the least and won't forget that feat of skill.

Almost exact same scenario: 2-up, steep incline, pulling into gas station, guy coming from the other side looking at the islands for an open pump instead of where he's going, it was either stop on the incline, T-Bone him or get t-boned by him, so I stopped, put my foot down, but by the time it hit pavement, the scoot was beyond the point of no return. Just dropped it on it's side, didn't have to wake momma as she rolled off. That's the one negative about a driver back rest, the passenger has a little more trouble dismounting quickly. Another driver and myself knew how to back it up - got it up, recycled the switch to get rid of the "TIP" message. Put some good gouges on about 3 or 4 places. but, everything else turned out ok - I'd rather take one at 0 MPH than a rolling one - any day.

Push more with your legs, by pushing your butt into the seat rather than picking it up your back.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;I watched a poor soul pick his up 42 times in one day on the first day of motor school.
Some of you guys crack me up. Thanks, I feel much better about the event.
dougbk, this is good advise. I'll remember it when I drop it again.
Here is a picture of my bike. Not a scratch, but the underside of the inspection stands do have lite scrape marks on them. Don't show, all is well!

We've all done it and felt the same way, and we'll all most likely do it again.&nbsp\\; Bottom line, these things don't balance well on two wheels when standing still, so the amazing thing is that this doesn't happen more often than it does.&nbsp\\; Glad&nbsp\\; you're okay.
