Bike is a 2008 Street Glide. Stock except for Vance &\\; Hines Oval slip-ons. Now, is it me or is my bike poping more than it should be or is this because it is now louder and I can hear it better?
Was under the impression that no further mods would be needed. Do I need a Fuelpak or Stage 1 download?
Here is a video I shot of it so members can hear it for themselves. Looking forward to any and all comments and suggestions. Thanks!
RE: Stock SG. V&H Oval Slip-ons. Too much decel pop?
Stage 1 (A/C), \\; tuner module, and Dyno tune. \\; I doubt that you will get a stock tune file that will fix it completely.
This will also make your bike run cooler, with more power.
RE: Stock SG. V&H Oval Slip-ons. Too much decel pop?
Dont waist your $$$ on the DOWNLOAD with EPA the Dealer will have to adjust it with-in there guidelines and that would still leave it LEAN.
Finish up your STAGE 1 you'll be happy you did. Improved performance and reduce the 07 and 08s heat issues. (your wife will thank you for doing it as if ya get stuck in a hot summer day she'll fell some MAJOR heat on her right boot...
If your like a lot of us here and youre NOT PLANNING on going any deeper then a basic stage1. GO with the FUELPAK very user friendly and easy 30min set-up and install and not a killer on your pocket book and NO DYNO NEEDED and slap-on a KandN air filter or a Ness Big Sucker and youll be done
RE: Stock SG. V&H Oval Slip-ons. Too much decel pop?
Thanks for the replies guys.
Don't plan on doing much more though will be adding a high flow A/C (Ness Big Sucker possibly) to help round out the package.
Not sure I trust my local HD tuner and would be pissed if I spent hundreds of dollars and still had issues. Being I don't plan on any more mechanical mods except for the remote possibility of TD's down the road, I am leaning towards the V&\\;H Fuelpak due to it's simplicity.
Does the bike sound that bad or is this normal? Is it me being worried? Don't want to damage the motor. She only has 650 miles on the clock.
RE: Stock SG. V&H Oval Slip-ons. Too much decel pop?
I put the same slip ons on my wifes 08 SG plus a Ness Big Sucker and a VH Fuelpak. Couldn't be happier with the way it runs and the improvement it made over just slip ons alone.
RE: Stock SG. V&H Oval Slip-ons. Too much decel pop?
Sounds just like mine. When you first put on the Ovals, you'll hear alot of sounds you didn't get with the stock mufflers.
If you left your camera siiting and rode off around here, it would've gotten a new home.
RE: Stock SG. V&H Oval Slip-ons. Too much decel pop?
Doesnt sound that bad At ALL. \\; Just take a look at your plugs you should be fine. \\; Finish off your Stage 1 and youll be happy with the end results
RE: Stock SG. V&H Oval Slip-ons. Too much decel pop?
Sound like mine, I too have the v&\\;h ovals, and did the stage one download so the mechic said...a little poping still on the decel, no regrets though on the slip-ons!!
RE: Stock SG. V&H Oval Slip-ons. Too much decel pop?
I'm running Ovals on my RG with Stg 1 dwnld/SE a/c and it decel pops as well. Installed the IED/XIED's and that helped a little but it's still there under certain conditions. I've been told it's common to the Ovals due to their large volume and little baffeling (sp?)and the number of posts you see about this issue confirms that. Also told that it will improve as the exhaust gets a little carbon buildup over time.
Your bike sounds fine to me but then, wth do I know. \\;
