for the oil and tranny drain bolts on 08 EG. Have a manual being shipped (hasent arrived) \\;but needed to dump fluids \\;before the \\;1K service mileage got out of hand. Thanks if you can help -Boom.

are you actually gonna torque those to spec? \\; i have never seen anyone do that. \\; i usually just snug it up (not supertight) and go with that. \\; never had a leak, never stripped one out.
not saying you're wrong for doing it, just never seen it done.
seat it and snug it.Hell what good are turques from manufacture \\; that says torque heads to a setting plus 90 degrees.Ive built lots of racong motors and never seen a spec that said and then turn 90 degrees until I started playing with harleys.

I know the spec on my drain plugs don't say \\;+ anything!? I guess my manual is defective! Most fasteners that are torqued than + degrees are stretch to yield. Most high performance fasteners do not fall under that category except rod bolts in which you would also check with a stretch gage. And most bolts that are stretch to yield should be replaced after removal. Just my .02
Most \\;every bolt on \\;Harleys has a torque setting. I use my torque wrenches faithfully after finding out (the hard way) that I was overtightening everything. A good wrench doesn't "play it by ear".

A lot of diesel engines use the torque/turn method.
Caterpillar \\;builds some of the most reliable and longest lasting engines available on this planet and most of their critical fastener torque settings are x foot pounds + x number of degrees!
