Hi all, I am hoping someone else may have had the same problem and can give me some guidance before I take my bike into the dealer. I have a 2008 FLHTC that has the erratic idle problem. While it doesn't bother me as I have learned how to get it back to normal thanks to this site.
 \\;
Today while the wife and I were out riding all of a sudden I had no throttle response. I pulled over turned the bike off. Once I restarted the bike the throttle was responsive again. This is the second time this has happened. I have just under 900 miles on the bike and it goes in this week for the first oil change and service. I am worried that this is going to happen in heavy traffic or crossing an intersection where I won't have the luxury of stopping easily.
 \\;
Anyone have any idea what is happening and what to tell the dealer so they can fix it.
 \\;
Thanks in advance for your input.
I had a few mystery electrical problems on my 08 also. Never logged a code and dealer was never able to recreate it when I took the bike in to have it checked. They called MOCO and it was suggested to unplug main ECM harness from ECM and plug it back in. That's what they did and I have never had another "mystery" electrical problem since.
 \\; \\; \\; I am having basically the same problem with mine, it seems that it does not have the Throttle Response that it should, I was told to turn the Engine Kill to Off Position and turn the Ignition Switch on and off 4 times and it will reset itself. Try that before taking it in and see what happens.
I have after market grips on my 08. I was riding down I 26 near Ashville NC. ( big hills ) I turned the throttle and nothing happened. My first thought is I dropped the transmission. No, it's got to be the motor. I made it to the dealer. They loosened then tightened the right side grips and housing and that solved the problem. Actually it might be too tight. It doesnt stick but I can feel binding when the throttle is wide open.
I was thinking about an 08 or 09 and at first liked the idea of a maintenance free cableless throttle ... now, I think I'll stick with my 07 which has been trouble free for 15,000 miles. \\; I hope they get this fixed soon for all of you ... an occasional reset is NOT the answer I'd expect to hear after you've dropped twenty plus grand down on a ride. \\; Good luck!

It's still not right. \\; There's no supposed to be any sticking or binding in the throttle - should be smooth spring action throughout its full travel. \\; I'd loosen the switch housing and try sliding everything a little toward the end of the bar and see if it loosens up.
If that doesn't do it, and it were mine, I'd open the switch housing enough to slide the grip off the bar and try moving the throttle sensor by hand. \\; If there's binding anywhere in that, the sensor has a problem. \\; Careful re-installing the grip on the sensor sector gears - they're nylon, and mine's a tight fit.

You're hearing from the handful of '08 owners who have issues. \\; You're not hearing from the thousands of '08 owners who are enjoying their bikes with no issues.

Gittin close to 15,000 miles on my 08 with the DBW, even been on the edge of the desert for days \\;with all the sand and heat of 100 plus and it still works great.
 \\;
Don't know why you are scared of something new.
Thanks for all the replies. I have to agree even with this problem, I'd buy another 08 if this one was stolen. I had ABS on my last bike (BMW K1200LT) and waited until HD had them before I bought this one. Like anything new the bugs will get worked out.
 \\;
I will get the dealer to unplug the ECM harness and check the connectors \\;and see if I still have issues. It's nice to have a place with some real world experiences to rely on.
