Thanks for all of the responses, I believe I've made a decision... I'm going to get the Ultra Classic. \\; Now the tougher part, what color! \\; I was at my dealer this past weekend and saw the book of 2009 colors, what is it with Harley... they always pick weird colors. \\; They have a new "root-beer" two tone with a tan. \\; I think I like the two-tone blues, there is a lighter and darker with a lot of metal flake I don't remember what they called them but my wife pointed out the darker one looked purple at an angle.
Kinda wondering why the 2009, unless you know of some GREAT thing happening with the 09's
I think there are plenty of 2008 models still out there \\;and I think you could get a better deal on a 08 Ultra
Something to think about, dealers are NOT going to deal on a 09 when they have 08's sitting right next to them
Black is the fastest color.
I chose the Classic, because I didn't need CB, 4 speakers, lowers, etc. \\;(saved $2K) in Black (saved another $1K over 2-tone paint) and put the money into the motor. Yup, every penny, and then some! \\; Everyone has different ideas of the perfect bike, but I wanted the hot-rod sleeper that looks like a rental. \\; Still, I \\;wish I had the extra lights on the tour pack. \\; Maybe that'll be my next mod...Good luck with your choice.
I'm planning on a 2009 since I want to have half in cash and I'm still saving my pennys \\. \\; Meanwhile I'm riding my brothers '83 Classic (shovel \\;head) which is taking care of my itch for the summer, I just have to give it up \\;for \\;a couple days a month so he can take it for a spin.  \\;As far as great deals, the dealers around here will only discount from MSRP if it is a left over model. \\; Based on that I don't see a benefit of buying from the showroom floor vs. ordering exactly what I want.
Your money..........your call. I bought the Classic because there were a lot of things on the Ultra that I didn't want, or care about. Plus, when I swing my fat leg over the saddle to get on an Ultra, it always hits the rear speaker.
 \\;
I bought an '08 ElectraGlide Classic last year, had the same dilemma. \\; What they said - if you are going to be doing alot of 2-up riding, get the ultra. \\; \\; Personally, I didn't want the intercom or the cb so I got the classic with abs brakes, and got the dealer to throw in the cruise control. \\; \\; I have since added the removable tourpak kit (easier to do on a classic cause there is no CB or rear speakers) and lower fairings, light kit for the tourpak - still comes in less cost than the ultra. \\; \\; \\; The cruise control is a cheap option on the '08s \\;because of the electronic throttle.
IMO, no brainer. \\;Get the Ultra - that way, you'll never regret not getting one/more of the features. \\; Plus, only couple thousand difference.

 \\;
I thought I would never use the cruise, but use it all the time. It is worth it just by itself.
