Default Electriglide Classic Vs Ultra Classic

I'm planning my purchase of a 2009 Electriglide Classic or maybe the ultra classic and although I know the basic differences (Cruise, CB, PT Intercom, 4 speakers, lowers) the only one that I really care about is cruise which can be easily added to the Classic, four speakers might be nice too but I don't know if that justifies the extra $2k.&nbsp\\; I plan to ride 1 up most of the time.&nbsp\\; My question really is what are the subtle differences, or is there any?&nbsp\\; For those of you who bought the Ultra Classic what do you like the most that you wouldn't get on the Classic?
&nbsp\\;
Thanks,
Alan

Hi Alan,
You have pretty much nailed it. If you are mainly riding solo, I would save your money a get the Classic. I bought the Ultra just so I would have all the toys, no other reason than that...

Quite frankly I never really understood the Classic (no cruise control give me a break) is it a touring bike or is it not? For a couple of bucks you could go out&nbsp\\; buy a couple of tools take off the product you do not want to make it a Classic and then when it is time to sell you get your $2000.00 back on trade in value IMHO.

either way the Touring models are just cool...I have not met a women yet that is not more than willing to give that big ol comfy seat a try.

The 4 speakers. The best sound comes from the back and the ability of the person inback to hear without blowing you out. The lowers. I love them. They have vents now so mine will never leave the bike. They are great for cold weather and I have been driving in heat in the mid 90's and the venting is sufficient. The intercoms, dont use them but have the option. Cb never will , but cruise is really nice. From now on it will be a nessecity on a touring bike for me. Other than that I dont know the differences if any. Never considered a classic. I paid an extra 2k for a Anniversary Ed. for paint And a 105th ann. badge!
Oh, ABS is standard too on my bike. Good luck with your new bike!!

Had the same question myself when I bought my '07 in march.&nbsp\\; I love the comfort and feel of a touring bike but, at 34, I'm not ready for anything that is TOOO goldwingish (No offense guys)&nbsp\\; So I went with the classic.&nbsp\\; You can add the rear speakers and cruise for less than $750 if you are the least bit mechanically inclined and have the patience to shop around a little bit.&nbsp\\; I bought the hogtunes kit and put on mine. Although now seeing what it involves and is included, it will be coming off soon and I'll build a custom setup.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;If you are riding one up most of the time and dont drag alot of stuff with you, why not think about the streetglide. Its a little sportier and still has most of the electraglide features we all love.

Cruise is a must for touring.&nbsp\\; Not only keeps you speed under ticket range, it's great to be able to rest your hands and arms.&nbsp\\; I love the lowers in the rain - wet boots are impossible to get comfortable in.
&nbsp\\;
I ride with wings, Visions and other UCs and use the CB a lot when we're touring.&nbsp\\; It's great to be able to discuss the next stop, tell your buds when it's safe to pass and find each other when traffic lights seperate you.
&nbsp\\;
My wife loves the intercom - no more yelling over the exhaust rumble and crosswinds.
&nbsp\\;
If I rode 1 up most of the time and with other bikes that don't have CBs, I'd consider a Classic with removeable lowers,

I love my Ultra and wouldn't trade down BUT, I've never had a reason to use the intercom or the CB.&nbsp\\; Could have done without them.&nbsp\\; I like the 4 speakers (added 2 more in the lowers) and I can't be without cruise control!
