My next bike I buy from PEZ Motors
I always thought that by taking it to the dealership I was getting the best possible service by factory trained technicians (can't call them mechanic's anymore). Sadly it appears that this just isn't the case, last oil change it appears the tech removed the regulator to wipe it down, which was a great thought, but didn't tighten the reg back on, when I got home after a couple of hours riding, the reg was hanging by (1) cap head screw and it was about to fall out.
The service department did a follow up call to see how things went, I let them know what I thought of them, they told me next time you are in, come see me and I will make it right, haven't been back in since.
Last time I took my bike to the dealer (old bike) , they dropped a wrench on the front fender. The bike only had 200 miles on the odometer. Of course, thay never saw it, but I did when I got home. They replaced it, but never again that was in 2007.
When I purchased my bike SEPT 3rd, I found a chipped/scratched lower fairing, chip in the outer fairing after I got home. I didn't realize it at the dealer bc it was cloudy and not that noticeable. I called, they said NP. I took it back to them a week later to have my old parts switched over to the new bike, while they were stripping the old bike, they had the "wash guy" try to wetsand and touch up the chips. Dude went thru the clear coat on my outer and inner fairing creating bad scratches AND put a screwdriver gouge in the tourpack. I let them know, they gave me a loaner for a week while they sent the parts out for paint. Upon receiving the bike back, I noticed they put the lower fairing on incorrect and stopped looking. They fixed that, I took the bike home along with a free helmet and stage 1 DL. Took the bike to work the next day and noticed runs in the paint right at the part where it touches the windshield on EACH side and the rubber gasket was not installed correctly (it was tucked inside the fairing at the last 2 inches and not sealing at all) I took pics and sent to the sales guy along with my dissatisfaction rant. I got a call telling me my front emblem and tour pack latch was in, I said, "did you order my other parts"? Service writer told me he would get back with me while he talked to his manager. Needless to say that it took me over 2 months and 4 times to the dealer to finally get my damn new inner and outer fairings ordered along with the peeling front fender emblem and bubbling tour pack latch bracket. Now I am waiting for the parts to get here so it can all be knocked out at once and I told them I want compensation ( electra glo saddle bag lights) So YES, I understand your frustration OP, some dealers don't give a crap. I will however hound them until they make it right to my satisfaction!
Buying a Harley is no different than buying a KIA. Some dealers are ok, others not so. And don't kid yourself, dealers make money on every sale they make, rather a new bike with no extras, or service.
And no, they do not care about you personally. They are there to make money so they can live life just like most of us do.
Also, has anyone actually looked at how much interest they pay to finance a Harley? Even with 7% you will end of paying over $7,000 dollars in interest with a 72 month loan on a 2015 Ultra Classic in black. So do you think dealers only make money on service and parts?
Moral of this reply..........take the time to learn as much as you can and do your own maintenance. Also realize that anytime you give your bike to anyone, dealer, indy, brother in law, you run the risk of something going wrong. The world is not perfect.

I had a dealer replace my front wheel bearings under warranty on my last bike. I rode 50 miles home and discovered they forgot to tighten the front axle pinch bolts. The bolts were only finger tight. Could've been ugly. I do all of my own work unless it's warranty. Even then I check behind the mechanic.
