Dealership careless???
Before vacation, I drop off my '05 to the dealer \\;\\\\\\;(HD of Appleton) for a laundry list of things that need attention.
 \\;\\\\\\;
New tires, new brakes, adjust clutch/chain, fix oil leaks, etc....
 \\;\\\\\\;
So they have the bike for ten days.
 \\;\\\\\\;
I pick it up yesterday - 9am. \\;\\\\\\; Give it the once over - no dents or scratches - nice. \\;\\\\\\; Looks like they washed it too.
 \\;\\\\\\;
Things look good. \\;\\\\\\; Hop on and hit the road. \\;\\\\\\;Couple miles out, I get hit in the face with what I thought was water. \\;\\\\\\;
 \\;\\\\\\;
Pull over to see WTF is going on. \\;\\\\\\; Right side mirrors look wet too. \\;\\\\\\;
 \\;\\\\\\;
GREAT. The \\;\\\\\\;master cylinder cover is missing the front screw and the rear one is just sitting there loose. \\;\\\\\\; It is brake fluid all over the place. \\;\\\\\\;Cover was blowing off in the wind.
 \\;\\\\\\;
Back to the dealer - \\;\\\\\\;wait around for TWO AND A HALF hours as they fix it and wash it.
 \\;\\\\\\;
So I'm ready to go, but take a look at the chrome cover - the a$$wipes used a standard non-chrome screw. \\;\\\\\\; WTF again.
 \\;\\\\\\;
I bitched again and got a free set of chrome screws - yeah thanks.
 \\;\\\\\\;
Have they ever heard of \\;\\\\\\; \\;\\\\\\; DOING IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME???
 \\;\\\\\\;
I am tempted to write/talk to the owner and demand some type of compensation. \\;\\\\\\; \\;\\\\\\;
 \\;\\\\\\;
Is that being **** or is it justified??? \\;\\\\\\; Hey, I lost a few hours of prime riding time.

That's why I do my own maintenance.
Stealers don't give a f*ck about you or your bike.
Buy the manual and some quality tools
(even a computer guy can do it better)

And he is under some stress to get certain amount of work done every day. And that is from his boss.
Who knows how much the tech is pressured to move quicker?
I went to the dealer and had my cruise, switches, buttons and chrome master cylinder, clutch cable &\\; housing installed.
I dont like to bleed brakes.
The Cruise didnt work.
But they fixed it.
Not everyone is 100% every day. Wish it were not that way when your paying for it, but...
You have to realize you are working with humans. There will be errors. I dont think the guy would do that on purpose.

Even humans,pressured or not, should know what they're doing
when they work on your 30K bike

First dealing with my local dealer and they put my tires on the wrong rims. The tire says 'front mount only' but they put it on the rear rim. \\;\\\\\\; Pretty hard not to notice which rim has the sprocket on it eh? Lost 2 1/2 hours just hanging around waiting for them to change them back. I won't go back for service unless I absolutely have to, may start checking out a local Indy for tire spins, etc. \\;\\\\\\; Otherwise I do all my own wrenching. \\;\\\\\\;
I didn't get offered any compensation or even any swag.
Same thing happened to me, two months ago (due to lack of time) I took my bike
to the stealer for a new front tire.
When I picked up the bike I noticed the airvalve being on the left i.s.o. the right side.
Also the tire was put on the wrong way [:@]
The guy took the wheel out and the tire off to correct it.
When I rode home, I had to hit the brakes for a cager
and I heard a loud sqeaking noise.
At the next gas station I stopped to check, and noticed that
the a$$hole had put in a brakepad the wrong way.
The pad was against the cylinder, and the steel part killing my rotor [:@]
Soon as I got home, I called to say how happy I was.
Next day he picked up my bike (on a trailer) and within 24 hours the bike
was delivered at my door with brandnew rotors and brakepads at no cost.
No need to say, he has seen the last of me.
