I'm riding an 05 Electra Glide Classic and recently changed my oil. I followed the manual and after letting it drain until empty I replaced the filter and added 4 quarts. I thought it would be a great idea to purchase a digital oil gauge to check the oil without having to remove the dipstick all the time. After taking a trip over the weekend when I got home I thought I would check the oil and the gauge indicated Hi oil? The bike was on the the kick stand and the oil temp was at 227 degrees. I don't know if I should drain some oil out or just trust the manual with the 4 quart refill? Can anyone help me out? Appreciate it.

The digital dip stick tends to do that, particularly if you check too soon after sutting down the motor. \\; Ignore it unless you're blowin' oil out the air cleaner, but if you get much oil from the air cleaner lower the oil by "about" a half quart.

My manual for 07 says in that situation to add 3.5 quarts, which puts it right at full on the dipstick after warmup.
[align=left]Jinks and Glen are both right. The digital guage will almost always say Hi-Oil if you read it right away. If the bike is cold it may say low oil or cold oil.
The 07 (96") take 3.5 quarts with a oil and filter change.
