this past weekend I changed my bars from an extended reach bar to the chubby wild one 508's. I thought all went well, but after putting everything back together and reinstalling the maxifuse, I have no working switches on the left bar. I checked fuses and my box has a headlamp fuse blown, but the headlight works with the exception of the hi beam. Just got back from autozone with some fuses and waiting for the bike to cool down some - its about 90 outside and warmer in the garage with the bike right now.
has anyone run across this problem before? i extended my wires one at a time, and am almost positive (i really don't want to have to take everything apart again) i connected the wiring per the diagram i made before removing them.
two new wrinkles for me too are: 1 the red security light stays on all the time now, and i don't have a security system\\; and 2\\; i now have to be in neutral to crank the bike. before all that was really necessary was pull in the clutch and hit the start switch. I'm wondering w t h with that...
Possibly a pinched wirh in the switch housing. It's easy to do. Take the left switch housing off and inspect the wires carefully. If one was pinched, you'll need to repair the damage and cover the repair with heat shrink.

that has happened to me too...definetly check the wires they do easily get pinched when you reassemble the switch housings.
As you can see in my pic, I have new bars. I agree tht you most likely have a pinched wire or a two wires touching. I would also check the right side front brake to make sure the brake light is working.
