Ordered mine sunday,I'll replace it myself as soon as it is in.Every thing I've read so far shows that even if they haven't failed they are cracked.Someone posted that there is a noticeable differance in the quality of the part.

Replaced mine myself. cost $30 and took about an hour. The original one was cracked. Maybe it would have been o k maybe not but since it is not hard to replace I didn"t want to risk getting stuck somewere.

thatguy \\; not if u pull the engine out of the frame[sm=happybounce.gif] No u do not have to remove the gas tank. U don't even have to drain it. I did the job with a full tank. Do u have a service manual? It really is a pretty easy job.

Poll is still not working. \\; I have ordered the cannister and top plate gasket. \\; My 08 RKC was built 09/07 &\\; I have 7800 miles on it with no symptoms yet, but I am afraid it will eventually fail based on other's experience indicated here at HDF.

Mine got replaced after dying. Hopefully it is a better part that I won't need to worry about again. I'd hate to know there was a part that might fail anywhere, anytime and the company was rolling the dice that it wouldn't happen so they wouldn't have to pay for it. Thanks, ********. American business. At least my dealer is great to work with. They offered a loaner and got the part overnighted in.

I have 7k miles without \\;a problem but went ahead and \\;just ordered one from \\;the local dealer for $33.95 since my build date was 09/07. \\; Dealer \\;said HD had them in stock 7-10 days for delivery. I inquired a week ago and HD didn't have stock but was told \\;several other dealers had one and they could get one from them for an additional 10% charge. I have talked to 3 dealers and none have order history to date for the canister. \\;
