Not for the gasket. Thats for the filter shell which is 62229-08A The gasket kit is the same since there nothing wrong with it.
The gasket is 61402-08. I did not change it as it is an o-ring just like the new derby cover o-ring and looked to be in great shape. \\;I also did not change the fuel filter as the filter gets changed at the 25k service so I thought with 6k miles it must still be good and it looked good. \\;All the o-rings in the pressure regulator that gets removed from the shell during the swapover can be reused as well. The only part I bought was the 62229-08A which is the shell. \\;I also did not change any hoses or put any shields on them. \\;It was really an extremely easy swapover and I didn't even completely remove the top plate or the wiring as you can see in the pics, I just let it sit on the edge with a rag on the tank. The part was taken off back order status, but now I see it is listed as on back order again, but no back order comments exist so I don't really know.
Looking at the proximity of the fuel canister. Is it possible to hit it with a fuel nozzle when you fill up your tank? Looks close and I guess I don't remember seeing anything in my tank that I could hit with the nozzle, but looks close?????
First off Dawg you the man, thanks for the info and the pictures. \\; Hope I don't have to do this on the side of the road late one night. \\; And many of us have wondered with a naked gas \\;nozzle, could you bump and crack the filter shell canister? \\; I carry the new part in the tour pack just in case, with a build date of 4/08, we will see.
i've changed quite a few of these at work (dealer tech). If fuel has been spraying, there's a good chance the o-ring for the shell is distorted. You can't buy it separate but it comes with the filter. I make it a habit to change the o-ring with every new shell. May not be required every time, but the piece of mind is priceless.
