A friend just got a 2002 Electra Guide. It had a short windshield on it. He went to the local HD store and bought a regular sized w/s and it wouldn't snug up using the 3 bolts. I don't have the HD windshield part no. they sold him, but I remember it ended in -96 or -98. We compared the holes in the short and the regular \\;windshields. The short one, that snugged down okay, has smaller holes, by about 1/16" I didn't get to measure it. \\; \\;I am assuming they sold him a shield for an earlier model. Does this make sense.

It's possible the brass inserts into the inner fairing have pulled out some giving extra room for the windshiled to move around. It's a common problem. The MoCo makes a replacement one for when they pull out altogether, but a little gorilla glue has always held when mine they stripped out.
Thanks for the replies.
His new w/s has 3 holes, so it must have been \\;-98 for the last 2 numbers. I was expecting some type of rubber bushings, to protect the plastic, when the bolts were tightened. His brass inserts have pulled out some. He was going to epoxy them back in place. It just seemed odd that the shorter w/s, that isn't stock, \\;had smaller holes and it fit okay. We swapped them back and forth and couldn't get the regular w/s to snug down.

A neighbor of mine just replaced his windshield on his 02 Ultra with a J.C. Whitney one. Cost about $65 I think. Fits good, can't tell the difference.[8D]
