Broken throttle Cable?
I have a 2006 Streetglide. The other day I was riding and the stinkin' throttle cable broke. I had to pull over and wait for a tow. Luckly it was in town and not the desert etc. Don't you guys think this is a little soon for a cable to break? I am a very mellow rider...this does not make sense and it is a little unnerving to wonder if it is going to happen again. Any other Streetglide members have this problem?

I think it was misadjusted, maybe at the factory. The throttle has a full throttle stop made in to it. If adjusted properly, on full throttle, it's supposed to hit the stop so that you don't pull further on the cable. What you want is full opening of the throttle plate just as you hit the stop. If it is misadjusted, The stop on the throttle body (or Carb) stops the plate from moving past full throttle, so the cable is pulled on harder, resulting in an end pulling off. Hope this helps
Thanks for the reply Tom. The weird thing was that the cable broke in the middle. I had custom handgrips and actually went back to stock to make sure that this was not the problem. If I was the guy who went full throttle all the time I could kind of understand but I don't think I hit there very often. Anyway, thanks for the info.
