You're right about building a wreck but I can get a 02 vrod with 5500 miles on it wholesale for about $7500/$8000, (I know where one is setting). I already have a perfect 2003 Roadglide front end that I bought when a guy converted his Roadglide to an Electraglide. The brackets for the fairing are $499.00 retail, don't know my cost yet (cause I'm still in Daytona and using a dialup connection). I could have one setup, without the bags for under $9500. on a clean title. The kit says you have to buy the lower portion of the saddlebag from the manufacturer & didn't give a price so I don't know the cost of that. The saddlebag brackets are $499. and the detachable tourpack rack is another $288. I have a set of saddlebags to match the 100th silver fairing If I can make them work. I'm thinking I could have it compete for $10,500 or so..
I've ridden a vrod and didn't care for the stock seating position but this bike has a touring seat & floorboards have been added, which bring your feet back a little. It was comfortable to sit on. Now if I could just figure out how to put a 3 gal reserve gas tank in the fairing......
BTW..... Daytona HD had this one priced at $26,500.00
I think it looks good the 1st one and I can say I LOVE THE V-ROD!!! [sm=icon_rock.gif] I'm looking to add one to my stable possibly next year if not the end of this year.
