Default sprung latch

Seems my L. Side bag latch has sprung . The top hooks into the clips and closes snugly but the latch when pussed down does not snap into place. The latch just bounces right back up to the open posisiton. I looked at the alignment and compared it to the working side and it all looks the same. Any thoughts before I whip out a pair of “Harley fix-em-all” pliers and bend the hinges to MAKE it work?

check to make sure the fabric strap that attaches the lid is folded inside and not binding

If its an 08 bring it back to the dealer.... and make sure they fix it while you wait and not just tell you to use you key to lock it in place.

also make sure you are inserting the back angled latches properly and if so that is what you have to do. But be very careful. If you are close to a dealer and stop in the service writer or a tech will probably take care of it at no charge. It is a simple process but difficult to explain.It will take a knowledgeable tech about 1 minute or less if everything is all there and nothing is broken

I willing to bet, real green money&nbsp\\;its not sprung.&nbsp\\; My 08 SG and friends 06 SG has done it.&nbsp\\; With the bag open, place the key in the bag lock, now turn the key GENTLY back and forth and look at the backing plate, see the small cam moving? It fits into the steel backing plate slot.&nbsp\\;If it not lined up perfectly it will not close because the cam hits the backing plate without indexing into the slot.&nbsp\\;The key tumbler just moved a smiggion, no big deal and IMO not worth a trip to the stealer, educate the better half what happens and how to fix it...."insert key and gently turn back and forth, till cam enters slot and close the lid" fixed.
&nbsp\\;
My other guess is you have never experienced peg into slot problem with out a closer inspection as to why it dosent fit.

I appreciate all the advice. I did try the latch thingy, the back hooks and all that but BLUEFLHT hit the nail on the friggin head. Mr BLUE, you are indeed a gebnius of the highest order.The fabric was indeed itnerposed between the bag latch and the hinges. I simply popped it clear and she locked as tight as a nun's ****** ,not that I would know :-)
Thanks BLUE and to all. I came too danm close to whipping out the pliers[sm=deal.gif]

This has happened repeatedly on my 08 SG. It's the spring on the latch. It either has slid far to the right or far to the left. Mine slides far to the left. What I have to do is take a key and pull the spring all the way to the right. Works just fine then. It's getting on my nerves so I will take it to the dealer soon.
