Changed mine out today and glad i did.&nbsp\\; Bought the bike in October 2007 so it was built in the period stated in these forums.&nbsp\\; Don't know how much longer it would have lasted, but there were definite weaknesses in the old canister.

for the $33 i paid and the 40 minutes it took to change it (or less) i would definitely recommend the change.

If&nbsp\\;I were on the road I might pay to have it changed but other wise it's a factory defect............ and that is a warranted item. I have not had a problem yet,&nbsp\\;but the dealer is going to change mine this week for free.

Why would you pay if you were on the road? It would be under warranty.&nbsp\\; But the point is do you want to break down on the road to save $32?

I'd rather pay the $32 up front to not wait at the dealership&nbsp\\;for 1/2 a day (or more)&nbsp\\;or getting stranded on the side of the road

3200 miles on a street glide here in MA, towed to the dealer Friday,&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;sitting in the dealer now they said the part would be there today, and&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;I got charged 80$ for the tow.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; I thought it would all be covered by the warranty, but i guess the tow was on me, thats what you get for 24K
&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
Just wanted to add the dealer Kelly's from Billerica MA, took care of the $80 charge. I still think Harley is lame for not covering it, But thanks again to Kelly's

jp96 you should have a free membership in HOG when you bought your 08 I bet you could get your 80.00 back from Hog

Is H.O.G.® Roadside Assistance included with my membership?

Yes! Active full and full life members (U.S. and Canada only) are automatically enrolled in the Standard Package of the Roadside Assistance Program at no extra charge.

What does the Standard Package cover?

With a limit of one roadside assistance service per member per year, with a maximum of $100, Road America can assist Standard Package holders with towing service\\; fuel/fluid replacement (does not cover the cost of fuel/fluid)\\; and extrication assistance\\; as well as unlimited toll-free telephone support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. (Benefit limits in Canada are in Canadian dollars (up to CD $100) and in U.S. dollars (up to US $100) when in the United States.)

Back to top
How does it work?

When you have a problem on the road, call the Road America toll-free number: 888-443-5896 (this number is also listed on the back of your H.O.G. membership card). Road America will send an authorized service provider to assist you. After the service is completed, the member signs off on the invoice. If it is $100 or less, the member does not pay anything. If it is more than $100, the member must pay the difference. (Benefit limits in Canada are in Canadian dollars (up to CD $100) and in U.S. dollars (up to US $100) when in the United States.)

I had mine break on me last week, i have an 08 street glide that i received in september of 07.&nbsp\\; The wife and I just started out for a long bike ride when it let go,&nbsp\\; i was about 3 miles from home and was able to make it back home, clutching the heck out of the bike.&nbsp\\; The local harley shop picked the bike up and had part replaced in 1 day free of charge(factory 2 year warranty).&nbsp\\;
