Hey all,
Quick question. I stored my bike for about four months during sh**town's, excuse me, Cleveland's winter and the bike seemed to run a bit rough when out for the first time. I know she only had about a quarter tank of fuel during the storage time and it hadn't run for those months. I filled it up all the way with 93 octane and it seems to run much better. My question is, would it be a waste of money or would it add more problems to put some high grade fuel injector cleaner in the tank as well?
It is a twin cam fuel injected bagger, by the way.
Thanks in advance.

You have a combination of sour gas and condensation (water) in your fuel.
Gasoline today "sours" in about two months or less. If I know I won't be riding my bike for a while I always fill up the tank to avoid condensation (water) buildup. Condensate (water) forms when the temperature changes on the metal area above the fuel line, (like a cold glass of tea in a warm room) and moisture forms within the tank. You can add a small amount of "Iso Heat gas dry" (the red bottle) to the tank. Keep your gas tank full to avoid condensation build up.
The Gas Dry and a tank of fresh 93 fuel should solve the problem.
I also use Stabil fuel treatment if I won't be riding for a few weeks. I add stabil fuel treatment in any engine that won't be used for two months or longer. Yard equipment starts on the first pull after sitting for 6 months with stabil in the gas.
You don't need additional fuel injection cleaners if you use good 93 gas.
I just bought a 98 Ultra that sat for a year, even after 2 fresh tanks it ran rough, idled rough. Added SEA FOAM to the third tankfull, made a big difference, bike idles down after cold start real nice and smooth.
One ounce per gallon is the way I used it.
Spitball is correct. If bike (or any gas engine) sits for an extended period od time fuel evorapates from the carb, injectors, lines and forms a sludge. You may have to use a "Sea Foam" product if you don't treat the gas with stabil.
Keep the tank full and run the bike every couple of weeks to run fuel through the system. Remember fuel goes bad after a couple of months and forms a sluge unless you use a fuel stabilizer or run a tank of fuel once a month.
