I use whatever the ole ladys got under the sink...Windex, 409, Fantastic, Pledge etc.

Interesting read on the opinions/experiences with Windex. A few guys said it's a big no no on the windshields. Others say they've had no trouble doing just that. I could swear using Windex ruined my windshield...some sort of separation of materials gave it a look like puzzle pieces. Warm water, soft towel and no detergents. However...Windex on the rims works nice, and Turtlewax quik shine does just fine.

Windex works fine as a cleaner and won't damage the paint, but it strips off all the protective wax. You could use it to clean before waxing but soap and water works just fine, so I'm not sure why you would.
